Season Review 2019/20 – U13 Black Team

Big challenge in the B division

After being promoted twice in two years we started this season in the B Division, so we knew it was going be a tough challenge for our boys.
The first game of the season we were at home to Kingsdale, the team that pipped us to win the C league last year on goal difference. The boys played brilliantly, and we ended up beating them 6-0 and getting a bit of revenge for the disappointment of only getting runners-up last season.

October was a mixed month, it started off with us losing to a very good Blackheath Wanderers team and for the first time the boys being outplayed for long periods. But we bounced back in our next match and beat Crayford arrows 7-2 at home (always good to beat them), only to then lose to another good side Phoenix.

In November we started off with a disappointing defeat to Hayden, we then drew against Danson, a game where we came from 4-2 down to be leading 5-4 with minutes to go and ended up conceding a late goal. We then lost to Gravesham in the cup, but we ended the month on a high winning at Kingsdale.

In December we only played 2 games. The first a draw against Crayford Arrows which was disappointing because we were 2-0 up at half time and in the other game, we thrashed AIM 6-1.

A good start to the New Year

The new year started well with us beating Danson. The following week we played well but ended up narrowly losing to Footscray in a very tight game with not many chances for either team. The following week we didn’t have a game so we arranged a friendly with the other Fleetdown U13 team beating them after they made a good comeback. The last game of the month was against Blackheath Wanderers who were unbeaten in the league but we managed to defend well and take our chances beating them 3-1.

In February we played 2 more games, the first was a draw at Sutton dynamo, a game we should have won and then a defeat to Phoenix.

March saw us play our last game in the league against Footscray. At half-time we were 2 down but we came back well to draw the game 2-2  and we should’ve won the game missing a couple of one on ones.

League summary

Overall for our first season in B Division the boys did really well and we finished in the top half of the table in fifth position. We’ve got a very good team spirit and great support from the parents and hope we continue to improve and enjoy our football.

Hope to see everyone soon
