Match Reports Week 2

First Team

Fleetdown Utd 2 -2 Faversham Strike Force
Our second league game of the season was at home against Faversham. A sloppy start saw Fleetdown two goals down after the opening twenty minutes, leaving us with a real uphill battle for the remainder of the match. After eventually getting a foothold in the game, we got one back just before half-time when Kieran McGiffen scored a fine solo goal, cutting inside the Faversham defender before firing home from just inside the box.
HT 1-2.

Our equaliser came mid-way through the second half when Harry O’Brien made a good run down the left and his pull back cross found Ryan Perkin to slot home. Fleetdown then had several chances to win all three points, but it was Faversham who won a dubious last minute penalty. Ben Brazier in goal for Fleetdown made a fantastic save to his right to keep the scores level and earn Fleetdown a point. Not the best performance from Fleetdown, but 4 points from two games with I’m sure much better things to come.

Reserves

Stansfield 4-1 Fleetdown United FC Reserves
A match for the spectators… what a game! Some of the football on show from both teams were exceptional both styles of play were complimentary to each other’s and the end to end battle was certainly one to watch. But this game was won with one team taking their chances !! Both teams had equal chances on goal but it was Stansfield that found the net four times to punish us.

Fleetdown come away with nothing but some eagerness to rectify the final third decision making! With the football excellent Fleetdown must find that clinical edge in the final third to avoid too many games without a deserved result.

A Team

Fleetdown United A 2 – 2 Eynsford
Good game started slowly and conceded in the first 5 min. After that we controlled the game coming back 1 – 1 then went 2 – 1 up. Very good spells of play but missed a lot of chances. Very poor decision from the ref to give a second half penalty but once again if we don’t take our chances this is what happens.
